Clarence is an eight year old boy with mild factor VIII deficiency. He is currently enrolled in the first grade where his favorite activities are drawing and coloring. He enjoys watching television, dancing, and singing in his free time. He would like to become a priest when he is grown. Clarence has three bleeding episodes per month on average. He visited the clinic six times and received six infusions. Clarence has had several major operations. In June 2003 he had surgery due to a blood clot in his brain. Clarence lives with his father, Renato, his mother, Cherry, and his grandmother, Nicolasa. Clarence’s mother works as a cocktail waitress, earning approximately $166 per month. The family share the grandmother’s home.
