Save One Life Welomes New Staff

After nearly four years of dedicated service as Save One Life’s executive director, Jeannine Cardoza stepped down in May. Her dedication and hard work brought our program to a new level.  Under her leadership Save One Life’s sponsorship program grew more than 500% — from just over 100 to more than 530 beneficiaries. We salute her and wish her well in her future endeavors. With this change, Save One Life opened a professional office -- conveniently located in the same building as LA Kelley Communications in Georgetown, Massachusetts -- and added a new part time position of sponsorship manager to handle our increasing number of sponsors and beneficiaries.  Zoraida Rosado, a long time Save One Life sponsor of Jose Luis Ortiz in the Dominican Republic, is responsible for posting eligible beneficiaries on the website, processing new sponsors, and sending annual beneficiary updates to current sponsors..  She also manages the new database — an ambitious project that will allow SOL to stay abreast of all our sponsorships as we grow our caseload to the thousands!  Zoraida can be reached at contact@saveonelife.netMartha Hopewell was hired as executive director in June.  Martha worked as a field director for Foster Parents Plan International, a well-known child sponsorship agency, for seven years.  After a two year assignment in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, she went to Senegal to transformed a rural field operation into one of the most innovative programs in West Africa. With an annual budget of $1.2 million, 25 local staff, hundreds of community volunteers, and 6,000 sponsored families, Martha and her team provided  non-formal education, community health, micro-enterprise and agricultural development, and youth literacy services in more than 170 villages.Since that time Martha has been the executive director for two organizations in the United States: an international artists’ residency program, and an international agency that certifies professionals and nurseries in a developmental assessment and care method for premature infants and their families in intensive care.   Martha has also served as an organizational consultant to non-profits, helping them to build their capacity in the areas of board development, strategic planning and fundraising.  Martha can be contacted at martha@saveonelife.net.We welcome Martha and Zoraida and look forward to their leadership as we bring hope and support to more deserving people with hemophilia around the world..
